Four different classes meet during the Education Open House, each offering identical course material in two different sessions with timing convenient for both East Coast and West Coast learners. You can sample one course or several – check out the descriptions below for the topics of most interest. Register for specific course sessions, and we’ll send you the access links by email.
Classes are about an hour long, then you’re welcome to stay online for the post-class discussion, where instructors answer questions or hear more about their students’ real-world experiences.
WQA’s Instructor-Led Training
Certified Installer Course
This course addresses best practices, treatment equipment operation, premise plumbing systems, safe drains, pressure loss, and installation procedures. Successfully completing this one course qualifies you to take the Certified Installers exam.
Session 17 of 21 – “Reverse Osmosis Part 2 & UV”
Clifford Fasnacht, MWS, and Paul Friot, MWS, CI, CST, CWR, will continue their discussion on the nuances of installing POU RO and then turn the focus to installing UV treatment. Topics will include proper placement, handling of the bulb, and electrical safety.

Assessing Water Quality Problems
WQA’s introductory Instructor-led course on POU/POE Water Treatment is the first step toward the CWS/CWR/CST/CTD certifications. It walks the learner through identifying aesthetic problems, onsite testing, interpreting water analyses for aesthetic contaminants, and drinking water regulations.
Session 9 of 14 – “Analyzing Municipal Drinking Water Reports”
Peter Cartwright, MWS, will discuss how to interpret Consumer Confidence Reports, and how to communicate with customers who have concerns.

Application & Sizing of POU/POE Treatment for Aesthetic Contaminants
This course moves from identifying problems into how to select and correctly size treatment equipment for aesthetic contaminants. It is the final course in the CWR coursework and the second in a series for the CWS/CST/CTD titles.
Session 9 of 15 – “Filtration Mechanisms – Adsorption and Neutralization”
This is the third of a three-part series on filtration mechanisms building on previous discussions of sediment and oxidation. In this class, Paul Friot, MWS, CI, CST, CWR, will discuss the fundamentals of neutralizing filters and adsorptive media.

Application & Sizing of POU/POE Treatment for Drinking Water Contaminants
This course focuses on the occurrence, chemical behavior and treatment of contaminants that can be hazardous to health. It is the final course required for the CWS exam and the third of four for the CTD coursework.
Session 8 of 13 – “Treatment for Organic Contaminants”
Peter Cartwright, MWS, will continue his discussion of organic contaminants, this time focusing on treatment with a particular emphasis on granular activated carbon (GAC) and the importance of using certified products when treating any contaminant that may have an impact on your customer’s health.
