New WQA President looks to busy year for industry
‘We are on the cusp of some great, great things,” Chris Wilker says
LISLE, Ill. (April 19, 2018) –New Water Quality Association President Chris Wilker is setting his sights on a big year for the water treatment industry. Wilker, President of EcoWater Systems, Professional Products, was elected president of the board of directors last month during the WQA 2018 Convention & Exposition in Denver, Colo.
“I’m really excited to take this position,” Wilker said. “I think we are on the cusp of some great, great things.”
Wilker, who has more than 30 years experience in the industry, said WQA will focus in the year ahead on four main tenants: advocacy, professional and product certification, dealer education and consumer awareness. During a speech in Denver he joked with members that his goal was to have an even better year than outgoing president Robert Maisner, who set a very high bar.
“It was fun (making that challenge) on stage, but in my mind it’s a reality: I am competitive and wedo want to grow,” he said. “I think we can only grow by providing improved member value.”
WQA has a 24-member Board of Directors: 15 elected representatives of manufacturer/supplier members and nine from the dealer membership category. Eight directors, including Wilker and Maisner (as past president), serve as the Board of Governors.
Wilker has spent nearly 25 years at Marmon Water, a fully owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, working the last seven years at EcoWater, of Woodbury, MN.
WQA is a not-for-profit trade association representing the residential, commercial, and industrial water treatment industry. Since 1959, the WQA Gold Seal certification program has been certifying products that contribute to the safe consumption of water. The WQA Gold Seal program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).
