Shannahan, Boerner accept association’s top awards

Remarks from WQA Hall of Fame award honoree DJ Shannahan and Lifetime Member Award recipient Bob Boerner are highlighted in the latest episode of the Water Quality Association Podcast. This episode is number 400 for the podcast, marking 400 conversations with unique guests, industry experts and WQA members offering valuable insights into the water treatment industry.

Shannahan and Boerner were honored at the 2025 WQA Convention & Expo in Long Beach, California, and made their remarks during the Convention’s Keynote Session on April 22. You’ll hear them introduced by 2024-25 WQA President Judd Larned and a brief introductory video about their journey and career in the water treatment industry. 

Boerner speaks about his family’s legacy and his work with a committee that earned him the moniker of “Captain E. Coli.” Shannahan discusses his role on that same committee and also why he stressed mentorship during his time as president. Both have thanks for others in the industry who helped them along their journeys.
