Government Affairs Committee


Tracking, monitoring, and advising on laws and regulations at every level of government is an important service WQA offers members. The Government Affairs Committee assists the WQA’s Government Affairs Department in prioritizing key bills and regulatory initiatives. The committee focuses on the following pillars:

  • Educate: Monitor and track Federal, state, and local policies impacting the industry; while keeping WQA members well-informed. Develop policy priorities accordingly.
  • Engage: Empower WQA members with the tools to engage and educate policymakers on key issues to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Advocate: WQA staff stand ready to react and respond to emerging threats and regulatory issues.

Committee Charges:

  1. Manages the efforts of WQA with respect to any legislative or regulatory matters that impact the industry
  2. Coordinates with the Subject Matter Experts with respect to the development of standards and with respect to the development of WQA positions on issues that require scientific input
  3. Provides semi-annual reports to the Board of Governors
