Tracking, monitoring, and advising on laws and regulations at every level of government is an important service WQA offers members. The Government Affairs Committee assists the WQA’s Government Affairs Department in prioritizing key bills and regulatory initiatives. The committee focuses on the following pillars:
- Educate: Monitor and track Federal, state, and local policies impacting the industry; while keeping WQA members well-informed. Develop policy priorities accordingly.
- Engage: Empower WQA members with the tools to engage and educate policymakers on key issues to ensure informed decision-making.
- Advocate: WQA staff stand ready to react and respond to emerging threats and regulatory issues.
Committee Charges:
- Proactively define policymaker challenges based on data, research, and trends.
- Champion opportunities to position WQA as trusted experts in shaping policy.
- Review and discuss flagged legislative/regulatory policy language to promote the interests of WQA members.
- When requested, recommend solutions for water related policy issues.
